Paper Recordings, the deep house label 'conceived in a pub over brown ale in Manchester 1994 by Pete Jenkinson, Elliot Eastwick, Ben Davis, Miles Holloway and Andy Gough as a gut reaction against an increasingly dull and diluted dance scene' will shortly be ending, after their 100th release. An official press release reads as follows…

"Very soon Paper will be releasing their 100th single!!! This momentous occasion will be celebrated by winding down. Yup. Contrary to recent rumours, the label has not got bust or bankrupt but the 100th release seems the perfect point to call it a day. The back catalogue and merchandise will still be available on the website and for licensing. This will take effect in mid-June when the office will close but there will still be email and a phone line operational from then on. Think of it as the good ship Paperepap dropping anchor in the ocean of rave, mooring up in a harbour called love... and sitting back in our fold away chairs to enjoy a cocktail with the locals. We'd like to take this opportunity to say thanks to everybody who's helped us over the years and bid you all farewell. Elliot and Miles will continue to record for Wall of Sound and jock all over the world. Ben continues to DJ, record as Del 5 and Flash Atkins and run Shaboom Records. Pete will continue to run Sonictonic Agency that represents the paper DJs, Crazy Penis, Magik Johnson, Erik Rug, Kenny Hawkes and Hakan Lidbo. We will be releasing a Best Of compilation before we go with a bonus CD of our favourite LP tracks and B-sides mixed by Crazy Penis. There will be a Paper Recordings and Robodisco party at Revolution on Deansgate locks in Manchester on Sunday, May 4 featuring all the Paper DJs plus Crazy Penis and a series of farewell dates to be announced. Also, still to come we've got a single by The Problem Kids, 'Take a Small Break', a complete reworking of Downtime by Miles and Elliot with Steve Edwards on vocals plus the very lovely Hubtone album, 'Interiors on Repap'. The very special Pap100 will be announced shortly. Thank you for everything."
