Acid house/techno pioneers Orbital have completed their first full length soundtrack project, scoring the music for upcoming horror thriller Octane.

The Hartnoll brothers' ambient flavoured style of electronic music has already seen them contributing tracks to films including Mortal Kombat, The Beach and The Saint though Octane will be there first time they've sound-tracked an entire movie.

"Right from the beginning of the band we've always wanted to write a film score, it's always been something we were quite ambitious about," said elder brother Phil Hartnoll.

"In terms of influence our favourite soundtrack composers are John Barry, the ones we grew up with, Ennio Morricone the obvious ones really. Though I think we put a bit of Philip Glass and Brian Eno into this. Modern minimalism was the brief, and as a horror movie the pace of Octane is quite slow so I think it worked out pretty well in the end," said Phil.

Orbital's Octane soundtrack is out now.
