400 tickets for Paul Oakenfold's upcoming gig on the Great Wall of China went on sale this week (April 10), suggesting the superstar Brit DJ is unconcerned by the SARS flu epidemic currently sweeping Asia. The 500 RMB (£40) tickets were made available at Beijing nightspot The Club (the Neo Lounge) and include transport to Jinshanling, free drinks and a barbecue.

The pioneering producer also DJed in Australia this week, and revealed an interesting theory on why Britain's mainstream culture has imploded. According to the Perfecto chief, superclub promoters big mistake has been to abandon commercial trance, specifically 'songs which girls could sing along to.'

"You have to look at what changed to make it bad, and it's the music that changed- in the UK anyway- and that's why people stopped going to clubs and that's why all the major clubs, not all of them, but the majority of them, have shut down," he told Sydney magazine 3D World.

"We need to get back to giving people a good time."

Fellow internationals due to visit Beijing in the near future include Lucien Foort , Kevin Shui and Switzerland's DJ Gogo.
