Last week's men's catwalk shows in Milan signalled the death of the Muscle Mary stereotype, according to a report in this week's Sunday Times. The paper suggested leading fashion houses had ditched the pumped up six pack types previously used in favour of 'lean, clean, supercool' models.

The Sunday Times' suggestions mirrored a recent feature in the Guardian, which highlighted a new gay silhouette of skinny-framed blokes with beer guts, popularised by hedonists at London's Nag, Nag, Nag.

"The rise of the potbelly is a dawn-of-destruction moment for the kind of gay man who prizes the body beautiful above all else," the Guardian suggested, adding that readers should 'forget the six pack'.

Nag's assocation with beer guts has been further enhanced by Mixmag, which highlighted 'pot bellies' at the top of their monthly barometer, suggesting 'they're all the rage at Nag, Nag, Nag'
