New York's legendary house label - Nervous - with the record-slicing hairdo logo - delivers its first retrospective with "Deja Vu: Those Nervous Tracks" on rising new UK indie Susu. Some of the 12-year-old label's most distinctive underground highlights such Nu Yorican Soul's crazy debut and Viola's "Little Girl" nestle alongside early tunes from Roger Sanchez, Armand Van Helden and Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez. Capturing the essential and unique "Nervous NYC" house music vibe, the album combines all kinds of funky House, topped off with the first ever DJ mix set from Jon Cutler.

Nervous is a family business run by Michael Weiss, whose dad Sam, ran an export company and Sam Records from 1959 till 1991. From Jersey garage to bumping New York sample tracks, Nervous wracked up some serious classics from Roger S, Todd Terry, Kenny Dope and mo'back in the day, before going on to help launch the careers of tweakin' House heads, Armand Van Helden and Josh Wink. Always open to all the sounds exploding outta the Apple, Nervous launched sister labels like Wrecked and Sorted, and were first to get into the gritty hip hop vibe helping launch Black Moon and Smif-N-Wesson. By the late 90's Vasquez and Tenaglia's far-reaching influence had turned to a harder more tribal sound, and Nervous were there ready to fire with Keith Litman and Razor & Guido. "We have always wanted to represent the emerging sounds of underground New York".

"DEJA VU: THOSE NERVOUS TRACKS" launches with one of their most crucial and influential tunes "Feel It" from Niceguy Soulman aka Roger Sanchez on one of his early 12"s. Followed by Kenny Dope with the Swing Kids "Yeah" , the opening collection includes early works from Armand Van Helden with "Love Ecstasy", UK garage guru, Todd Edwards with Sample Choir "The Praise" , New Jersey's star vocal producers, BOP, Chicago all stars Mike Dunn, Byron Stingily and Maurice Joshua on "Let It Go" and behind Kim English' "Treat Me Right" and Baltimore's Basement Boys. Wamdue, Spen & Karizma and Michael Moog are also on the mix, ensuring quality all the way.

The second CD is mixed by Jon Cutler, responsible for last year's massive "It's Yours" tune, and a fast-rising star, this debut set will be heavily anticipated. John mixes up hot vocals from Dawn Tallman into jazzy deepness from Frankie Feliciano's Gigolo Supreme. One of the label's biggest stars, Byron Stingily weighs in with "Happy" before Masters At Work lend their magic to Viola's "Little Girl". Mood II Swing are here as the Club Kids with "During Peak Hours", Kerri Chandler delivers on Club Artists United "Sweet Chariot" and "Rain" and Marshall Jefferson and Roy Davis Jnr team up as Umosia. "That Nervous Track" the debut MAW outing as Nu Yorican Soul is a classic before rounding off with Kim English's sublime "Treat Me Right".

Jon Cutler has been steadily carving a path in the dance music community with his Distant Music label over the last six years With the success of the label and recent productions and remixes Jon's unique style of Dj-ing has also been in demand around the world. "I was big on Hip Hop when I first started spinning so I incorporate a lot of the technique into my house sets. No Scratching", Notable tunes include The Men On Wax Vols I & II, "The Trip Meisters EP", Distant Drum Breaks The Harmonica Walk /Blue", "The Sounds Of Life EP and the "Different Worlds EP".
