Experience 2 hrs of independent, alternative, underground Super 8 film and video from members of Melbourne's 'Moving Image Coalition '(MIC) as well as a number of films from overseas contributors (USA, UK and Ireland).

The Feature Artist of this screening is US filmmaker, Flame Schon (Santa Fe, USA) who has contributed 6 short works to this program.

Flame Schon
Under her former name, Diane Rochlin, Schon co-directed and co-edited 'Vali :The Witch of Positano', a documentary about the Australian painter, Vali Myers living in Italy that won the social documentary award at the Mannheim International Festival in 1966. Subsequently, Schon worked as a freelance cinematographer in New York City where she specialized in filming avant- garde theatrical productions.

With a grant from the American Institute in 1969, she collaborated on videotaping The Living Theatre's historic final performance of 'Paradise Now' at the Sportspalast in Berlin. In the early seventies, Schon traveled to India to videotape spiritual leaders and their communities. She regards her most important social documentary as 'Dope', a feature -length film (in collaboration with the late Sheldon Rochlin) on the London drug scene, which premiered in 1977 at the Whitney Museum of American Art.

Schon currently lives in New Mexico where she creates video and digital art under her company name, Reconfiguration.'
