This single contains two exclusive tracks taken from the novamute "2CDs & MP3s" compilation ˆ released on April 7th. It will be the only vinyl release from the album. Neither track has been available previously on any format.

Luke Slater‚s Nothing At All‚ was the first single to come from his "Alright On Top" album ˆ a departure from his previous solo output on novamute, and appropriately released on Mute. This remix from Console brings it back down to the floor in a deep and sultry fashion. Console being one Martin Gretschmann, hailing from Weilheim/Munich, Germany, whose previous work includes writing a track for Bjork (ŒHeirloom‚). On the flip, Si Begg slips into his S.I. Futures guise to rework ŒEurostar‚ from his excellent "The Mission Statement" long player (novamute, 2001). Look out for a brand new album from Si, released under his own name on novamute on 23 June 2003.

A1) LUKE SLATER 'NOTHING AT ALL' ("REASON HOIS" ˆ CONSOLE REMIX)

Console turns Luke‚s original into a warm minimal house track, with maximum emphasis being placed upon the groove. From tinny beginnings, the track filters down into deep, enveloping bass frequencies.
This is tech-house in the purest sense ˆ bubbly and funky, with some vocoder sprinkled in and amongst the keys ˆ acting more as an instrumental tool than a lyrical accompaniment.

AA1) S.I. FUTURES 'EUROSTAR' (FX MIX)

An homage to Kraftwerk‚s locomotively-minded classic from the Œman of a million aliases‚, conveyed with tongue firmly in cheek yet without sacrificing musical quality for novelty ˆ surely one of Si Begg‚s greatest talents. A mash of sounds and influences interact, from old school rave two-step, breakbeat, electro ˆ you get the picture and, besides, who‚s counting ˆ the point is, it works∑ and very well!

novamute are hosting a club night to celebrate the launch of the 2CDs & MP3s‚ compilation (out April 7th). The action takes place on Wednesday April 9th, at Plastic People, Curtain Road, London EC2. Music on the night comes from Luke Slater (DJ), Si Begg (Live), Baby Ford (DJ), Tim Wright (Live) and Nick Craddock (DJ). Tickets are available from Rough Trade (Covent Garden & Talbot Road) and Smallfish.
