London's Egg Cracks Open Next Week (May 16)

Egg, London's first purpose built nightclub venue to open since Home, launches next weekend with an electroclash dominated event headlined by the Nagnagnag DJs (Jonny, Fil and JoJo).

The three level 800 capacity club is the brainchild (and property) of legendary promoter Lawrence Malice who made his name through Trade and is located in the industrial wasteland of Kings Cross's York Way (just up the road from Bagleys).

Kicking off with their Friday weekly Zerox (featuring Nag plus God Made Me Hardcore and Matthew Glammore's Siren Suite on floors 2 and 3) the club hosts a series of monthly sessions on Saturdays from promoters including Haywire (Electric Egg) and City Rockers (21st Century Body Rockers). With virtually no house music programmed into its regular events, the club could mark a significant turning point for London club culture, something Lawrence Malice was anticipating three years ago when he first started planning his club.

"We want to develop a new style of clubbing which is more based on glamour," he told Skrufff in an interview in 2,000.

"I'm talking about radical glamour, the kind of glamour that was around when punk first started, said Lawrence.

"Everyone looks to London for what's going to be the next big thing and I believe there's going to be a massive explosion of glam punk."

For more information on the club's opening night check out their website below. Doors open at 10pm and early arrival is recommended.
