London Clubs Go Electro (Clash) Crazy

8 major electro events are taking place in London this bank holiday weekend, in what's the clearest sign yet that electro is revolutionising London clubland.

Established nights like The Cock (at Nag home the Ghetto) and Renegade Pop (at 333) are likely to be full, as will bimonthly fashion-fest Return to New York and London's newest club Egg, which hosts three fantastic electro-based line-ups on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The state of the art club opened to general acclaim last weekend, though clubbers on the guest list were forced to pay £10 after the venue failed to obtain their liquor licence in time.

"The licensing problems affected the whole weekend because we couldn't sell alcohol so we decided to make it a free bar for all three events," Egg promoter Derren told Skrufff.

"Which was tough for the guests but great for all the people that bought tickets, as they were treated to a free bar all night," he added.

"The whole weekend was a great success, we had a good response, a really nice crowd and we feel we've got something we can build on."

Also holding electro related events this weekend are Computer Blue (Deluxe Gallery, Hoxton- Saturday), Electric Stew (Sunday) and Simply Soundclash at 93 Feet East, headlined by Mark Moore, and Return to New York starring DJ Hell and The Human League's Phil Oakey making his London debut on the decks.

Over at Egg, meanwhile, Princess Superstar, Larry Tee and his WIT starlets will be bringing their New York thang to North London alongside local boy Luke Slater (playing a rare live set) and Atomizer. Egg also host an afterparty starting at 2am on Monday morning, which is likely to be packed by with revellers from Return to New York, which finishes at the same time. Ladytron, Themroc and JoJo De Freq headline.

4 days later, two more electro nights open up for Thursdays, Cornel Lazar's Death By Stereo (going monthly at Turnmills with Richard Fearless, Ladytron and JoJo) and Steve Strange's Pcock (launching weekly at ultra-plush Covent garden brasserie Sway).
