Wednesday April 9, South Melbourne is set to erupt with a huge charity event celebrating and showcasing a continent of music, dance and culture.

On this evening, SEVEN nightclub in South Melbourne, will host Latin Lava, a carnaval of Latin moves, grooves, brass, drums, bass, beats and bongos.

Latin Lava brings together the hottest bands in the Latin scene, lets the creme of Latin DJs loose on the decks, and brings you a cavalcade of dance and culture with       Argentinian tango, Brazilian capoeira, Columbian salsa, Cuba Son, travelling percussionists, artisan displays and more.

Latin Lava is a charity event with all money from ticket sales donated to the World Vision Andean Permaculture Project., a project  that  aims to alleviate  poverty for 1500  indigenous families in Peru and Ecuador by teaching and implementing sustainable agricultural methods.

The impetus for this party is to assist this extremely worthy cause- a personal motivation for the organiser, Lisa Bentham. Lisa Bentham, brainchild and event organiser, has lived and worked in South America. The inspiration for the event was "the warmth of the people who welcomed me into their lives and culture … I decided I wanted to give something back. I was saddened by the poverty that I witnessed, particularly the indigenous people who lived on the streets begging or trying to sell something".

The Australian Government has also come on board to support this event- promising to each dollar raised 3 for 1 - in other words,  to triple the total amount raised.   All involved with Latin Lava  - organisers, performers and Seven Nightclub alike -  are donating their services free - so that every cent goes to this worthy cause.
