Electroclash promoter/ Skrufff man-in-New York Larry Tee was delighted with last weekend's Outsider Festival, which saw 4,000 revellers jamming into Crobar to catch Zombie Nation, Fanny Pack and a whole host of new electro acts.

"It was incredible that this kind of music kicked off the opening night of the first new megaclub in New York City in years," Larry told Skrufff.

"It was exciting to see so many people having fun listening to great new music".

"The crowd was also surreal and was the best part of the event in that it was such a cool mix of straight, gay, freaks, hipsters, clashers, Goths, fashion folk, and New York City club regulars," he added.

"These events always give people a chance to wear whatever makes them happy and that makes me happy."

Larry also stressed he's continuing to use the term Electroclash, despite dropping it in favour of Outsider for last weekend's event.

New York, unlike many parts of the world, has been into this new wave of
dance music for a while, and eliminating the name kept it fresh for the fans and
journalists alike," he said.

"The term electroclash is still relevant to many and my new compilation that just came out is called 'Elctroclash' Volume, though I don't use it as a genre term, so I don't feel unnecessarily attached to the name. My hope is that people can take the best bits of electro, punk, disco, techno, house, new wave, and funk and play it like they choose. I think the problem of nightclubs in the last few years was their fear of playing new styles of music. I don't want to hear a straight format of any one kind of music, all night long."

Boy George performs at Crobar this Friday night (December 19) alongside Cedric Jervais and Teri Bristol.
