Drug using ordinary clubbers could be at risk of inadvertently turning into psychotic killers, judging by an alarming feature in the latest issue of DJ Magazine, on club kid killer Michael Alig.

DJ sent reporter Claire Hughes to interview Alig in Attica prison, upstate New York, where's he's currently serving a 10-20 year sentence for the manslaughter of Angel Melendez, and she discovered he blames the savage killing on his then out of control ketamine habit.

"I was actually in a K hole when it was going down so there was all this wah, wah, wah, wah kind of thing going on," Alig claimed.

"By the time I came out of the K hole, Angel was on the floor, he wasn't moving."

DJ editor Lesley Wright appeared to accept his explanation, writing in her editorial column "Claire was shocked at how a once regular guy could go so easily off the rails."

"Millions of people use drugs every weekend for recreational purposes," Wright added.

"Drugs can also be very destructive. Stay on the right side of the line."

Alig receives his first parole hearing in 2006.
