The future of dance music is 'punk-funk' and guitar music, judging by the latest issue of DJ magazine which is littered with references to their 'next big thing' prediction.

"Punk-funk guitars in a dance music publication, what is going on-" the magazine's contents page asks (introducing a 3 page feature) the former progressive house wunderkid/ Oxford graduate James Holden tells the magazine he's fully signe up to the new musical wave.

"Computer music is naff really, unless it has that punk feel," says James.

"Those dirty bits. That's what makes it human and that's what I'm focusing on now."

French producer Kid Loco also owns up to a 70s past playing Gang Of Four covers in yet another punk affiliated article, though judging by the experiences of fading pop star Jarvis Cocker, DJ's latest genre flirtation is likely to be brief.
.
"It took me a while to realise that nothing was going to change," Cocker told the Observer, recalling own his experiences as an alternative star during the mid 90s.

"I thought I was part of something that was going to be like punk, but then it suddenly became part of show biz. I just turned into a bit of a tool basically."
