Glastonbury Recalled: Mad Max or Mild Max-

Glastonbury 2003 was plagued by hordes of drug-crazed revellers, New York Times critic Neil Strauss claimed this week in a curiously euphoric review of last weekend's festival.

"When night fell, hordes of ecstasy-addled spectators came out to play," he breathlessly reported.

"The sight resembled a post-apocalyptic movie in which the dazed, tattered and unwashed wander among the ruined symbols of civilization."

Less impressed by the bacchanalian excess on display was 60s icon turned civil rights campaigner Bianca Jagger, who first became famous for marrying Rolling Stone Mick Jagger in the 60s.

"My generation was never so sober", she sniffed. (Standard)
