American secret service agents protecting George Bush on his highly controversial visit to London next week, will be authorised to shoot anyone they believe is threatening the president, according to reports in this week's British press.

The Standard also predicted Bush's visit will 'paralyse London' next week, potentially worsening relations between the UK and US.

European billionaire philanthropist George Soros also stepped up his campaign against Bush this week, donating $5million to Moveon.org.

"When I hear Bush say 'you're either with us or against us', it reminds me of the Germans," Mr Soros told the Guardian.

"My experiences under Nazi and Soviet rule has sensitised me."
