The turntable legend, the original. "Hip hop is the most popular music on the planet and I'm happy to be one of it's creators."

"I can't walk the streets in New York. "Wherever I go I get major respect and that's because I've decided to stay visible. I talk to people, I DJ, I play sets to 18 year old people or 30 year olds, black, white, young old and I'm still here."

"Grandmaster, cut faster," Straight out the South Bronx, creator of the quick mix and the first person to cut and scratch. "It was a party night, everybody was breakin', the highs were screamin' and the bass was shakin' and it won't be long till everybody know when that Flash was on the beat box goin', Flash was on the beatbox goin." He was the first DJ to debut tricks like mixing behind the back, beneath tables,
kicking mixing faders with his feet. "Fab Five Freddie told me everybody's high. DJ's spinnin' are savin' my mind. Flash is fast, Flash is cool."

Flash has had a remarkable influence on the genre, responsible for tunes such as 'The Adventures of Grandmaster Flash on the Wheels of Steel' 'White Lines' and 'The Message' and producing tunes which initiated phrases like "Throw your hands in the air, and wave 'em like you just don't care!" "Clap your hands to the beat" "Everybody say ho!"
