Falaraki Hooligans Span All Social Classes

Binge drinking British tourists terrorising Greek party island Falaraki almost certainly include public school educated upper class toffs, judging by an illuminating article by Daily Telegraph columnist Andrew Gimson on 'young Britons' addiction to drunken yobbery'.

"This national characteristic does not seem to be a question of class, nor is it new," Gimson suggested last week.

"Part of the reason for this obscene and destructive behaviour lies in the shyness of young Englishmen."

Less sympathetic was Falaraki Mayor Ioannis Iatrades, who compared the hard drinking shy boys to 'mindless soccer thugs'.

"By about midnight a lot of these youths are so drunk they begin undressing and running around totally naked," he told The Observer.

"Greeks would never do that in their country (England). It's quite obscene."

Following the killing of a 17 year old British youth in a bar brawl last week, Falaraki police launched a serious crackdown against public drunkenness, which could scupper the holiday plans of 25 year old Peter Phillips, son of Princess Anne.

According to the News of the World, the young royal ('favourite chat up line- I'm the Queen's Grandson') has been so entranced by the 'sordid public sex' depicted on reality TV show Club Reps, that he booked a trip to the holiday playground.

"He and his friends have watched the show all summer and think it's a brilliant place," a pal told the paper. "He can't wait."
