Michael Mayer, the Cologne based DJ who's just mixed the latest compilation CD for London club group Fabric, is determined to hang onto his Monday-Friday regular job, he revealed this week (on the press release accompanying the CD).

"I need a straight job, an office job to keep me right, to ensure that I don't lose my head" said Michael.

"I like doing normal things during the week and then being wild at weekends."

The 32 year old German techno-electro DJ admittedly has a music business day job at studio complex Kompakt, though his refusal to embrace the DJ lifestyle fully could signal a new attitude to the role.

"For me it's the perfect balance," he added.

"If I wasn't in a club every weekend and listening to all the records we distribute through the week then I'm sure I'd have a problem and wonder why I'm doing all of this."

Fabric 13- Michael Mayer comes out in November; Michael in the first mainland European DJ to do a mix for the fabric CD series.
