The brilliant Decoder Ring are playing two nights next week at the Hopetoun Hotel, Sydney on Friday 21 and Sat 22 Feb, 2003.

Early last year year Decoder Ring released their debut ep "Spooky Action at a Distance" to solid airplay, glowing reviews and sold out shows, It was touted as of "one of the finest recordings of the year" and heralded as "a must have", " an epic" and "a break through release". The band then divulged their electronica / organic rock to audiences along the east coast, where they are being hailed as one of the finest new bands to emerge.

Hot on the heels of the ep release came Decoder Ring's debut album.

Retreating to a farm in the hills of Kiama NSW, Decoder Ring recorded and shaped a sonically inspiring piece of work with all the provocation and intensity of a Rorshauch inkblot. Like the Rorschach test which was once described as the "x-ray of the mind", the Decoder Ring album coaxes you to explore what you see embedded within the sounds.
Rave reviews have likened the band to such varied luminaries as AphexTwin, Tortoise, AIR, Radiohead and Mogwai, but coupled with their influences (Kraftwerk, Television, Neu, disco, Miles Davis and Pink Floyd), but don't expect any new wave idolatry rehashing.

Blazing soundscapes, hypnotic beats and tranced out naive chordal arrangements, Decoder Ring are aimed at the psyche. Part symphony for the subconscious part soundtrack to your daydreams, Decoder Ring's cinematic debut offering promises to engage you in your own projective aural adventure that may well haunt you for some time to come.

Catch Decoder Ring Friday night featuring Symbiotic System, Curse ov Dialect and Terminal Sound System.

Saturday w Toy Death, Music v Physics and Echo
