Dave Clarke's Gothic Horror

Bonkers British techno genius Dave Clarke has announced details of his long awaited new artist album Devil's Advocate which includes a homage to seminal Goth band Bauhaus.

"I loved the way Bauhaus was gothy-cool, not over Goth," said Dave. "I was very into that."

The track in question, She's In Parties, is an original tune written around the goth classic and features vocal contributions from electroclash queens Chicks On Speed, though the Brighton-based producer/ DJ said he's got no plans to DJ at electro-centred clubs like Nag, Nag, Nag.

"I've got nothing to do with that scene," he stressed.

"I find it really funny that I was one of the first DJs to bring attention to this music and I've never been asked to play in those clubs."

Ironically, Dave's credentials as the first DJ to seriously champion electroclash were recognised by Pete Tong, who himself introduced Fischerspooner to Nag chief Jonny Slut via his radio show, two years ago.

"The interesting thing about Fischerspooner is that it was Dave Clarke who turned me on to that record," Pete told Skrufff earlier this year.

"It was really the techno scene, who were playing that record (Emerge) as a tongue-in-cheek track who first got it. And they're the most po faced of all, usually. Dave though, despite his reputation, has a very dark twisted sense of humour," he added.

Devil's Advocate is released on October 20 on Skint Records.
