Dave Clarke In Nice Guy Shocker

Notoriously grumpy techno don Dave Clarke is actually an ultra-generous pussycat type, fellow Brit DJ Ade Fenton told Skrufff this week.

"I can only take things on face value and he's been incredibly generous in helping me with my career," said Ade.

"I'm never going to say anything bad about him because on a personal level he's been so kind to me. I've seen a very different side to the brash persona that he puts out. A lot of the things Dave says are tongue in cheek, he's misunderstood in lots of ways."

Ade's comments echoed the views of electro-overlord DJ Hell who told Skrufff earlier this year the two are great mates.

"Lots of people have the wrong impression of him, he's a very nice guy, but when he talks to the press he talks loud and clear and a lot of people don't like that" said Hell.

"He's actually very funny and to me is one of the greatest DJs and producers. I really like him even as a person, we're friends and there's a lot of respect between us."

"He's also an astonishing DJ, there's nobody else that plays like him or the music he plays," Ade agreed.

"Whereas someone like Jeff Mills might drop a Donna Summer track into a set, Dave might drop a Bauhaus or Sigue Sigue Sputnik track in the middle of a techno set. He's one of the few people who will stir things up like that."

Dave Clarke DJs at Bugged Out's birthday party at The End this Saturday (November 15) alongside JoJo De Freq, Errol Alkan, Ewan Pearson and the Glimmer Twins.
