Dancing Civil Liberties Activists Fly Down to Miami

Civil Liberties campaigners from the Drugs Policy Alliance will be attending the Miami Winter Music Conference next week, to urge the dance music industry to fight the proposed new laws which could destroy US nightlife.

"As you may know, Congress is considering three bills that could land many event promoters, bar and nightclub owners, and stadium owners in jail if even one person uses drugs at their events," the DPA said in their latest newsletter.

"Even as you read this e-mail, however, politicians in Washington, DC are plotting to quickly make these laws and give the government broad new power over your life. They will succeed, unless you act now," they added.

The Alliance are launching a 7 step plan to mobilise support, which includes a suggestion for producers to use drug policy activist soundbites in their music as well as promoters to host fund-raising parties. Buzzlife Productions and Maze Nightclub have already announced details of two such events, while the DPA will be hosting a booth at the Remix Hotel (check the links below for more information)
