'United Nation' - The Canberra Bush Fire Benefit
Ministry of Sound the world's largest dance music label announced today that it is staging a Bush Fire Benefit Festival at Canberra's Stage 88 in Commonwealth Park on Sunday March 16th to raise funds for the cities Bush Fire Appeal. The event will be the largest collection of Australian DJ talent in one place ever to be held in Australia and will feature over 30 DJ's from five states all of whom have donated their time free of charge for the event. The festival will be an all ages alcohol free event with a low entry price of just $25 and so should ensure a capacity crowd of 8,000 at the picturesque Commonwealth Park Concert Arena. Ministry of Sound is working with three local Canberra promoters to create a unique event that will both raise important funds for the Canberra Bush Fire Appeal but also provide the cities youth a celebration of Australian music talent.

Richard Mergler, Brand Director for Ministry of Sound Australia said 'We are very happy to be involved in this benefit and create a unique event for Canberra which not only raises valuable funds but also gives the city a great day and hopefully some relief from the fire disaster.'

The Chief Minister's Department has welcomed the event and has given valuable assistance in organizing the event. Executive Director Nic Manikis added 'The Canberra Bush Fires were a terrible tragedy and the effects have been far reaching across the city. There has been an amazing response from both the people of Canberra and Australia as a whole to the Bush Fire Appeal and it is great to see the local Promoters getting together with Ministry of Sound to organise this music festival for Canberra.' The original idea for a benefit came from three local promoters Paul Azzopardi, Damion Lepp and Lann Shannon who live in Canberra and experienced the devastation of the fires and all wanted to put their talents to use to raise money for the victims of the fire.
The three promoters have been busy contacting local companies to help in the organizing of the event and with the supply of equipment and there has been a great response so far.
