The Guardian's dance music hating pop critic Alexis Petridis this week revealed that his true musical passion is for Dido, suggesting the ground-breaking 'sensational' artist has actually been 'unfairly maligned'

"At it's best No Angel (Dido's first album) did what it did incredibly well, as evinced by the fantastic singles Thank You and Here With Me," Petridis raved.

"The single and opening track, White Flag (from her new album Life For Rent), is a superb, confidently written pop song, possessed of a chorus that is impossible to dislodge from your memory without the aid of hypnotherapy," he gushed.

As well as declaring his undying love for Dido, the Guardian pop writer also wrote an in-depth feature examining club culture this week, beginning with the line 'they say dance culture is dead'. Going on to criticise other commentators for ignoring dance culture's role in the 90s ('most accounts prefer to concentrate on Britpop and Cool Britannnia') he surprisingly revealed he's also impressed by Nag, Nag, Nag.

"The music is fantastic- on off-kilter, rather sleazy hybrid of techno, punk and early 80s electropop that sounds generally different and challenging," he declared.

"In fact, it's almost too cutting edge."

'I'm startled by how swiftly dance culture has waned...'
