DanceStar USA The American Dance Music Awards is set for Wednesday March 19th on the sands of South Beach, Miami and has today announced its nominations for the second annual music awards show.

Madonna, J-Lo and Justin Timberlake capture the spotlight this year, each with nominations for 'Best Chart Act' and 'Best Remix'. Dirty Vegas, Paul Oakenfold and DJ Sammy are also set to dominate the awards show after having been nominated for multiple awards. Dirty Vegas receives five award category nominations including 'Record of the Year' and 'Best Album' while Spain's DJ Sammy also scoops three. Paul Oakenfold, an original architect of the dance scene, has also been nominated in four categories including 'Best International DJ' and 'Best Act'.

CEO and Founder of DanceStar, Andy Ruffell said: "DanceStar USA is the "X-Games" of modern music and our aim over the next few years is to build DanceStar into one of the biggest and most innovative music shows in America! Until now, the creativity and energy of the dance music lifestyle and culture has not had a media platform. That's why DanceStar is growing so fast and why broadcasters worldwide are taking notice…"

The international success of the inaugural 2002 American Dance Music Awards, held at The Jackie Gleason Theatre in Miami, made it the premier dance event of last year with broadcasts on MTV2 USA, MTV Europe, Star TV Asia and a live web cast on Microsoft's windowsmedia.com featuring Jennifer Lopez, Lenny Kravitz, Fatboy Slim and Basement Jaxx. The show had an estimated global reach of nearly 1 billion viewers making it the largest global audience in dance music history.

Approval has been given to stage the show 'live' on the beach in Lummus Park, just steps away from the legendary Ocean Drive, making this year's awards ceremony the first of it's kind in the U.S.

Mayor of Miami Beach David Dermer said: "The City of Miami Beach is pleased to welcome back DanceStar USA and is privileged to be the chosen city of this unique, global music award ceremony. Miami Beach is the epicenter of dance music and electrifying nightlife and has suitably become the home of this event."

Over 1 million consumers and industry members are expected to vote online via Dancestar.com when the website goes live at midnight on February 1st. Tickets will also go on sale nationwide from February 1st through Ticketmaster and Groovetickets.com. The show's host, featured presenters and performances together with television broadcast details will be announced shortly.

A further ten award categories have been added to this year's show including 'Best Use of Music in a Commercial', 'Best New Artist Album' and 'Best Celebrity DJ' for which Wesley Snipes receives a nomination. A total of twenty-six award categories are featured in this year's show compared to sixteen in last year's inaugural ceremony, highlighting the expansion and increased recognition of dance music in the U.S.

Since it's launch in London in 2000, DanceStar has become the world's largest dance music awards platform, developed as the first globally televised dance music event with shows in London, the U.S and Asia. The shows were created to celebrate the achievements of the industry's main players and born out of the need to recognize the significant impact of dance music worldwide and the expansion of dance music culture.

Tickets will be available from February 1st through Groovetickets.com and Ticketmaster on 1 305 358 5885 - priced at $20.00 General Admission and $60.00 Seated (booking fees apply). Further details can be found at www.dancestar.com
