Daft Punk make a sci-fi movie

Daft Punk will unveil their film 'Interstella 5555' at the Cannes Film Festival this weekend.

'Interstella 5555' is a joint production between Daft Punk and Japanese film-maker Leiji Matsumoto.

The project started three years ago during the recording of the 'Discovery' album. Daft Punk decided to make an animated musical set in the future full of showbiz and spaceships. It is the story of "the 5ectret 5tar 5ystem". The plot is about four musicians from another galaxy who are kidnapped by an evil manager (hey, aren't they all-) and sent to Earth where they are sentenced to fame.

65 year old Leiji Matsumoto is a legend in Japanese film circles having written, directed, produced and acted in many Japanese movies during his career.

Daft Punk flew to Japan to meet him. They presented the concept and he agreed to the project immediately. With a storyline like that, how could anyone refuse-
