12 months after electroclash emerged as the saviour of a decidedly damaged mainstream club culture, the much maligned genre has morphed and mutated to become a genuine catalyst for night-life renewal. And leading the charge, is unquestionably Tiga, whose Sunglasses At Night track alongside Fischerspooner's Emerge, delivered electro's first crossover hits.

And with Studio K7's brand new DJ mix, he's taking the process one stage further, delivering a fantastically funky, groovy compilation that's unquestionably best electroclash mix CD yet created. Not that Tiga would call it that.

"The electro thing has opened the door for something else, what that is I'm not yet sure but this mix CD is the first window into that," he told Skrufff recently.

"It's about house and techno music that borrows the same aesthetic and freedom from techno but it's more open and new."
Hugely accessible and totally disco, the collection avoids to many obvious anthems and more importantly skips any noodly, experimental style tracks that interrupt so many ofher compilations. Well mixed (with Stevie V's Dirty Cash acappella providing just one of many peak moments) and never dull, it's exactly the kind of set that's turned clubs like Nag Nag Nag and the Cock into London's most roadblocked venues.

"I was imagining two or three hundred people, with a dark, sweaty vibe, almost like an old kind of warehouse party," Tiga added.

"I wanted it to be more house and techno based maintaining that same kind of character, humour and personality that has come to the front in the electro movement.
