Detroit superstar producer Carl Craig DJs at London's Fabric on August 30 to spin a set of 'diverse party music that is a substitute for any drug created," he promised this week.

The hugely influential producer and figurehead of techno will be DJing alongside Colin Dale and Intec Records chief C1, though is likely to confound expectations, judging my comments he made to Skrufff in a recent chat.

"Techno's gone the same way as jazz, for example, when people were listening to be bop and arguing what was and what wasn't proper Be bop," said Carl.

Or when Miles (Davis) went electric, a bunch of jazz guys hated it because they thought it was crap or pop, even though his music had a lot of the same attributes."

"But people don't even know what techno is- that's the reality of the game."
