UK techno guru Carl Cox has pulled back his long awaited artist album yet again some two years after telling Skrufff it was already ready for release.

"It's kinda' like a fine wine, you're only gonna' open it when it's ready," Carl told Australian magazine Onion this week.

"My album will only come out when I think it's ready. There's no way that I can bring out an album which I'm still not 100% happy with."

Carl told Skrufff's man-in-Sao Camilo Rocha in February 2002 that he'd been collaborating with artists including Neneh Cherry, Kevin Saunderson and Erick Morilloand spoke of releasing his album soon after, though conceded his production career had long lagged behind his DJ profile.

"I didn't have the time and didn't feel so confident about my own music," he admitted.

"I've done remixes and tracks in the past, and I'm up to my third album now but the marketing and promotion of some of my previous stuff hasn't been up to the standard of where I'm at as a DJ," he continued.

"I not aiming to set the world alight, to become as big as Basement Jaxx or as big as the Prodigy, whatever, but I do have something within myself as an initial sound that I want to elaborate on."

Carl Cox and C-1's label- Carl's new single Space Calling, is out now.
