Brtish authorities moved to stamp out the country's fast growing cultural phenomenon of mooning confirming that waving your naked bottom at strangers could result in a two year jail sentence, if the strangers make a complaint.

The draconian new law is being introduced as part of the British Government's Sexual Offences Bill though nudists and 'fun streakers' will be exempt, according to a report in the People newspaper.

"The Bill will include exposure which is an act of loutishness," a government source told The People.

"So if mooning causes distress, it would definitely be covered."

The 2 year sentences contrast starkly with penalties in Australia where 20 year James Albert Ernest Togo recently got away with serving four hours in jail, after being found guilty of mooning at two cops passing by in a car.

Mr Togo pleaded Not Guilty to a charge of indecent behaviour on the grounds that his bottom baring action had been a politically motivated protest, his lawyer gene O'Sullivan telling Coolangatta Magistrates Court 'The larrikin moon is of a political nature when it is directed at an authority figure,"

However, Magistrate Sheryl Cornack disagreed declaring the action was 'an act of ridicule and derision'.
