Almost three quarters (72%) of British women lie to new boyfriends, a survey revealed this week, compared to almost half (46%) of newly coupled up blokes.

The survey for pizza firm Freschetta revealed that while women usually fib about their culinary skills and age, men tend to exaggerate their status.

"Those of the men who did lie tended to pretend they ran their own company," the Standard revealed.

"Or drive a Ferrari and had been out with hundreds of women."

The survey coincided with a much larger one of 11,000 Brits which revealed that 54% of women have experienced sexual problems lasting over a month (compared to 35% of men) with young people just as affected as their elders.

"I'd like to challenge the idea that sex problems are only in the older generation or people in long-term relationships," Relate sex therapist Denise Knowles told the Guardian.

"My experience in the clinic is with people in their late teens and early 20s who have not been living together long or are in their early stages of a relationship," she said.
