English DJs and musicians could soon be forced to visit the American Embassy in London in person to apply for working visas to enter America, according to a report in the latest issue of Music Week. The new regulations could seriously affect DJ's ability to perform in America, judging by the recent experiences of French artist Laurent Garnier who last week announced he'd given up trying altogether after bureaucratic regulations stymied his application.

While Garnier suggested his problems were linked to the continuing post Iraq fallout between France and America, UK musicians are almost certain to face massive additional obstacles, according to a message posted on the US embassy's website in January, when they first revealed their plans.

"Interviews will be by appointment only," the message about Non-Immigrant visa applications said.

"However, we have no way of knowing how quickly appointments are going to be booked, therefore, if you call and are unable to secure an appointment date to accommodate your travel plans, you will be required to delay your travel until such time that an appointment is available to you."
