22 year old English tourist Daisy Angus remains locked up in a Midnight Express style Bombay jail, after customs officials discovered 10kg of cannabis hidden in her luggage, six weeks ago.

According to a report in this week's Guardian, Ms Angus was tricked into carrying a case by an Israeli friend, 37 year old Yoran Kadesh (who's also in custody) and had no idea she was carrying illicit goods. She faces 10 years in an Indian jail without remission, if convicted of smuggling.

"Whenever I see her in prison she just says 'Daddy, daddy, daddy, you can't leave me here," her father told the newspaper.

"Daisy is not capable of this (smuggling). She has been set up."

The Guardian also reported that Indian police often plant drugs on tourists, demanding large bribes for release, a practise that can happen throughout South East Asia. Fair Trials Abroad chief Stephen Jakobi, who said all the signs point to Daisy's innocence, also appeared in theTelegraph this week talking about a Britain who'd been detained in Bali, allegedly in possession of 8,000 ecstasy pills.

"Since I founded this organisation 11 years ago I have never had to deal with a trial in Indonesia," said Mr Jakobi.

"If you want to get out of jail you pay."
