Local newspaper Folha de Sa Paulo suggested AME's (Association of Electronic Music Friends) focus on social issues such as safe sex and food collections had prompted a split within Brazil's fast growing dance scene, after rival promoters spurned AME's 'social duty' philosophy.
"We want to show that electronic music has everything to do with social integration, job creation, improvement of self-esteem, development of new artistic talent and the promotion of a good image of Brazil abroad," founder member Camilo Rocha said last month.
"The Association wants to show that behind the apparent irresponsible hedonism of a party there is a cultural, social and economic movement taking place."
The new parade is being fully backed by city authorities and with organisations including MTV and Sao Paulo's best known club Lov-E among the 40 organisations sharing floats, looks certain to be a massive success.
