The Beastie Boys have recorded a track called 'In a World Gone Mad' - a song that protests against the impending Iraqi war. The track, which can be downloaded from the Beasties official site www.beastieboys.com, contains a line addressed directly to the president…"You and Saddam should kick it like back in the day/With cocaine and the Courvosier."

But the song has a serious point too, as Adam Yauch made clear in an official statement on their site. He said that it was "important to comment on where the US appears to be heading." He also added that… "A war in Iraq will not resolve our problems. It can only result in the deaths of many innocent civilians and US troops. If we are truly striving for safety, we need to build friendships, not try to bully the rest of the world.

This song is not an anti-American or pro-Saddam Hussein statement. This is a statement against an unjustified war." The song was recorded during sessions for a new Beasties album, which is not expected to be released until 2004. However, the Beasties Boys felt that given the current situation, they could not wait until then to make 'In a World Gone Mad' available.
