Argentina's club scene is thriving despite the country's economic chaos with some parties accepting food supplies for door fees, the Independent reported this week.

"I first saw them do it in Sao Paulo (Brazil)," said local drum & bass DJ Bad Boy Orange.

"The bouncers have scales and if it comes up short you have to go and get another tin."

Argentinian clubs are so far refraining from such activities, though are prospering, said Juan Manuel Mole' from leading dance website Dancenet.ar,

"People here in Buenos Aires are partying harder and a lot more people are discovering the dance scene," he told Skrufff.

"The future of the Argentinian Club Scene is really good. Everyday we have a new party or club, and thats good. The Economic situation is hard, but we´ll find the way to keep the party alive."

International DJs including Sasha and Dave Seaman continue to visit the South American country as well as Radio 1 man Pete Tong, who owned up this week to a secret passion for food.

"Being a DJ is not great if you're into food, I'm constantly on the road and often motorway junk food is all that's available," he told the Observer.

"but I'm off to Argentina next week, I can't wait. I've heard the meat is the best in the world."
