An evening with Ken Ishii

Japan's No 1 DJ returns to Australia after a 2 year hiatus for an exclusive 4 hour set in the lush surronds of Seven Nightclub, to celebrate the launch of his new Album - Future in Light.

Soon after the release of his internationally successful Jelly Jones CD, Ken Ishii was hailed by critics as being the most important musician to come out of Japan in decades.

Now widely recognised as the wonder-kid of 21st century Post-techno, and consistently displaying a rare chemical-ability to transmute experimental electronica into commercial success, Ken has moved from making sound-sketches with an old sequencer at his Tokyo home to world- wide acclaim in just six years.

Born in 1970 in Sapporo, Japan - he was still at university when Belgian beat-master Renaat Vandepapeliere heard his demo tape, and completely bowled over, offered to release Ishii's Garden On the Palm in 1993.

Since then Ken has made a number of definitive albums and mega selling singles, including an array of dazzling 12 inchers and re- mixes which have also led him to breaking new ground in the video-arts. Says Ken, he's looking forward to playing at Seven for a second time. His third album, Sleeping madness out through Creative Vibes is still a best seller and his latest project Future in Light is already climbing the dance charts worldwide.
