One in ten Americans are so worried about germs in toilets that they flush the lavatory with their feet, The Independent revealed this week. The feet flushers (8% of the population) could still be at risk of infection, however, according the manufacturers of an intriguing new device, the Toilet Seat Lifter.

"The American Medical Association reports that after touching a toilet seat just one time, it takes at least five consecutive hand washings to get rid of most of the germs and bacteria," their website reports.

"It is very possible to catch a cold or influenza from touching a toilet."

The report could be of interest to Judge Jules, who admitted before Christmas that his fondness for drinking alcohol means he's often to be found in club bathrooms, particularly as nights progress.

"I rarely play sets of more than four hours, because by the time I reach the final hour, I'm spending more time peeing than DJing," said Jules (writing on his online diary at judgejules.net)

"And the crowd start to question why I'm in the toilet more than the DJ booth, which is speculation I can do without."
