Ali B Headlines Fabric's 4th Birthday

Breaks supremo Ali B will be joining John Peel and Errol Alkan at East London mega-club Fabric on October 17 to celebrate the 4th birthday of the club, with L.F.O. (live), Andrew Weatherall and Colin Dale headlining the Saturday night event (18th October).

The weekend will be particularly significant for the Smithfields basement venue, which has weathered both serious financial issues earlier this year as well as the general decline of large scale UK clubbing.

"Lots of comparisons are made between Fabric, Cream and Gatecrasher, classing it as another superclub, but their outlook is poles apart," Fabric resident Ali B told Skrufff in a recent interview.

"But Fabric was never about picking a couple of superstar DJs and pinning their hopes on them for the next ten years. For a start, they championed me and I'm an unknown so that tells you something straight away. They also took on James Lavelle who had a big profile but I'm sure James would agree, he was never known for being an outrageously talented DJ."

"It's been more about the musical flow than superstar DJ names and I think that's why the club is still doing so well."
