Promoters from England's biggest superclub venue, the 7,000 capacity Tall Trees in Middlesborough, have teamed up with several northern-based clubs to co-promote Northern Lights, a new event which launches on Bank Holiday Sunday (August 25). Slammin', Retro and Manchester's Goodgreef and 2Kinky events are behind the new night, which promoters hope will dispel some of the concerns prompted by the problems of Britain's better known clubbing brands.

"There are plenty of nights and events doing very well; the bottom doesn't just fall out of the market overnight and people just don't stop going to nightclubs," said 2 Kinky's Gary Marto.

"Maybe it's time to divert money away from wage bills and engage imaginations, because clubs that have focused on production and entertainment are doing better than ever, whether you're talking about Garlands, 2Kinky, Godskitchen, Goodgreef or Sundissential," he suggested.
