Local cops in Kentucky are treating glow sticks, bottled water and rave toys as "sure signs of ecstasy use" according to a report in this week's Kentucky New Era. "This (ecstasy) is more of a party-style drug, it gives a lot of energy," said Cheyenne Albro, director of the Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force.

Albro also told the paper that the presence of glow sticks could indicate the site of "so-called rave parties", where he claimed "promoters could also be providing bottled water so patrons can fight off dehydration".

"This drug could actually fry your brain," he suggested.

The police leader's warnings came despite a recent ruling which banned DEA officials from regarding glow sticks as evidence of drug use, on civil rights grounds.
