Slick Rick Faces US Deportation

Britain's most successful rapper Slick Rick looks certain to be deported from the States in the New Year after violating US immigration laws by briefly leaving the country in June. The unusually successful English rapper left the UK 26 years ago, though after serving a 5 year prison sentence in the early 90s became liable to deportation under laws introduced in 1996. As well as collaborating with Eminem, he also contributed extensively to Morcheeba's latest album Charango.

"Paul's always been a big fan of Slick Rick," Ross Godfrey told Skrufff earlier this year.

"He was really cool and gentle, a very laid back guy. He had his eye patch on and this bling bling diamond encrusted Rolex, and looked great. He turned up on time and on his own, no entourage or anything, apart from his lawyer."

Slick Rick currently remains locked up in a Miami prison though told the Sunday Times he's being unfairly treated.

"I paid my debt to society and I have been out and crime free for six years," he said. "Then this happened. I do not really know what is going on."
