Authorities in notoriously anti-drug city state Singapore are beginning to recognise dance culture as a force for good, Tracy Phillips from renowned club Zouk told Muzik this week in a review of the island's latest massive rave (which featured Carl Cox).

"Now they realise we can actually be an asset to the economy as well as somewhere that helps to defuse Singapore's image as 'Disneyland with a death sentence', as sci-fi author William Gibson described it in 1993," she said.

People in Singapore who refuse drug tests (usually urine samples) face 5 years in jail plus three strokes of the cane while those convicted of smuggling even small quantities, risk execution.
