Set up to cover breakbeats and electro output with dancefloor sensibilities, Akademia is the brainchild of Choo Choo label owners Mara and breakbeat upstart DJ Filth.

Sarah Whittaker-Gilbey of Mara, and Choo Choo label manager said "we've always dabbled in breakbeats as producers, and after the success of Desanitize which we did for Acetate Ltd, it seemed natural to look further into the scene. Dean (DJ Filth) is Choo Choo's promotions manager and it seemed like we were having the same ideas of where to go, so the concept was born."

"It's no coincidence that we were all on the same vibe with Akademia, as we're all very close and have similar music viewpoints so it's wicked to be running a breaks label with likeminded people." Says Filth of the new arrival. "Being involved with one of the best underground house labels in the world is no bad thing either!"

Forthcoming tracks and remixes from scene heavyweights Vigi & Flip, Breakneck and Mara as well as brand new material from Bad Cop, Wrecked Angle (Russel Pearce and Bedroom Bedlam's Steve Gerrard), Caustic Soda, Das & Dj Welten and DJ Filth himself add up to the fact that Akademia Recordings is one to watch for 2002…..

Akademia Recordings launches on April 22nd with Hyper Tension's "Drop Zone" featuring a huge 2002 remix from TCR's Breakneck which is already picking up props from Rennie Pilgrem and BLIM.
