Reclaim The Streets To Save the Queen's Golden Jubilee

British government ministers are concerned about "the public's lack of interest in holding street parties", to coincide with the Queen's Golden Jubilee, according to a report in last weekend's Sunday Times.

"No 10 (Tony Blair) is worried," a senior royal source told the newspaper. "On the one hand there is not much interest but they sense political danger and want to be part of getting it right."

"I think the British have lost the habit of proper partying," 'leading historian,' David Starkey told the Independent. "Working class culture is dead, and with it the traditional 'Knees up Mother Brown' attitude."

Ironically, British authorities spent much of the last 10 years passing legislation outlawing outdoor festivities resulting in the biggest and best street parties being illegal ones organised by Reclaim The Streets. During this year's Jubilee celebrations, however, an extra public holiday has been added and with England opening their World Cup (soccer) campaign the same weekend, the streets are likely to be busy. Tube trains are also set to run all night on Monday 3rd June (both Monday and Tuesday are official bank holidays).
