Prodigy Mice Murders: Cambridge Scientists Slammed

Animal rights activists have criticised Cambridge University scientists who escaped charges after drugging mice and killing them with high volume music from the Prodigy.

"It's disgusting, they should be prosecuted for animal cruelty," Wendy Higgins from the British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection told the Guardian. "Why should they get special treatment just because they are scientists-"

Seven mice died in the experiment which involved scientists injecting 40 mice with methamphetamine, then forcing them to listen to four hours of The Prodigy at 95 decibels (considerably quieter than most clubs). The mice jiggled backwards and forwards and moved their noses from side to side before dying, the Guardian revealed, contradicting earlier reports that they'd either been "glued to the spot or walking backwards".

The guilty scientists received official reprimands from the Home Office.
