Drug users caught in the Philippines with more than 10 grams of cocaine or ecstasy face execution, under draconian new laws passed this week.

Under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (Act 9165), people caught in possession of lower quantities will be jailed for life, while those with less than 5 grams face 12 years in jail (Manila Times).

Students will also face random drug testing while anyone found with 500 grams of marijuana will also be put to death.
