America's Drug Enforcement Agency are doubling the number of so called 'club-drug' investigations, with particular attention being focused on Southern Florida, Asa Hutchinson announced at a news conference this week. The DEA chief dubbed ecstasy 'the Y generation's cocaine' at the conference and promised to devote 10% of the agency's resources to the new plan called Operation X-Out.

"The explosive use and ecstasy and predatory drugs among our youth is fast reaching epidemic levels," Hutchinson said. According to the DEA website, what he means by 'predatory drugs' are ketamine, GHB and Rohypnol; "drugs that can be used to facilitate sexual assault."

The new DEA strategy to concentrate investigations on clubs and dance events in Southern Florida could presumably impact on the country's biggest electronic music/ clubbing event, the 5 day long Miami Winter Music Conference, which takes place next year between March 18 to 22nd.
