Notting Hill Carnival 2002 Changes Direction

This year's Notting Hill Carnival is being extended to include Harrow Road with the procession now missing out Kensal Road, the area's busiest section for sound systems. The changes mean that the event's two most popular club systems, Norman Jay's Good Times and Sancho Panza, should be less swamped by passers-by, though Jay's recent MBE is likely to mean his spot on West Row, will remain road blocked throughout.

While the Kensal Road area and Good Times system attract most clubber types throughout the two day event, one of the best locations for clubbers is undoubtedly Chepstow Road, the location of both the Prince Bonaparte pub and Gaz's Rockin Blues sound system (on Talbot Road).

Top jocks like Sasha and Lee Burridge have frequently manned the decks in the Bonaparte pub while Gaz's Rockin' Blues always attracts a fantastic selection of people. Last year locals including the Chemical Brothers could be spotted dancing on the streets to a fantastically jumbled selection of tunes from James Brown to King Tubby and Chic.

This year's Notting Hill Carnival takes place between 12noon and 8pm on Sunday 25th and Monday 26th August and is hugely recommended by the Skrufff team.
