Manchester clubbing film 24 Hour Party People opens this weekend and is likely to refocus attention on the city's most influential club the Hacienda, which was recently demolished to be replaced with luxury flats. The film's release has been accompanied by extensive promotion from New Order, whose royalties effectively financed the whole club.

"I still go to clubs because my wife's younger, she's 30, and clubbing's not that different, they're still getting off their heads" Peter Hook told Skrufff recently.

"When I go out these days, my daughter's like 'Don't dance, Dad, it's dead (very) embarrassing'.

"I still relate to it though," he continued. "We ran the Hacienda for 18 years, and used to go all the time. I don't think age means a fuck, actually, it's about how old you are inside. It's quite strange because we're saddled (labelled) with having started dance music and dance clubs; with the Hacienda and fucking Blue Monday (said tongue in cheek if a little proudly), it's all our fault. The Hacienda was fantastic," he concluded.

"I had some top nights out there."

New Order also play a live outdoor show at London's Finsbury Park this summer (June 9th) and are supported by French chillout supremos Air.
